  • This study focuses upon three perspectives of the religious ministry offered by United States Chaplain Corps officers: (1) the history and theology of religious pluralism in America, (b) the religious ministry expectations of Ecclesiastical Endorsing Organizations that endorse civilian clergy to serve as chaplains in the United States Navy, and (c) the capability of the leadership of the Navy Chaplain Corps to accommodate those expectations. The study objective is to assess the expectations of the Ecclesiastical Endorsers is met through the assessment of a representative sample of the entire population of Endorsers. Specific recommendations for a refocusing of the role of the Ecclesiastical Endorser are developed.
