Abstract

The purpose of the project is to examine the historical position of the Christian churches and Churches of Christ (North American Christian Convention) on the doctrine of ordination. The researcher provides a biblical basis for the laying on of hands practice. The researcher clarifies ministries within these churches desiring ordination by the local church and presents practical approaches for the church to use when ordaining, calling and installing a minister. The implications for the future are clarified through the churches becoming aware of the problems and the need to continually reform the church in light of scripture.
