Abstract
  • The development of community in the congregation begins where God shares all things in common with his people, the Lord's Supper. Our lives are intertwined with God's and with one another through the Lord's Supper and in small growth groups. The research for this paper was done through ministry projects in the congregation, observation and participation in small groups outside the congregation, workshops in small groups, and reading in the field of community and small group development. Community is built in small groups as people come together around Word and Sacrament and share the healing gift of the gospel of Jesus Christ with one another.
