Abstract
  • Can preaching sermons to strengthen faith in an elderly congregation help to reduce or balance out their stated fears of death and dying? The universality of death demands that pastors address this important issue at some point in their preaching ministries. From an experience of hortatory preaching to that of a more creative, imaginative approach with the use of stories, a pastor and a congregation discover on their journey together a spiritual wellspring hidden in the biblical texts which is experienced and brought to life in a new and more meaningful way. the learnings for such a journey, for the preacher and the parish, as well as the invited ongoing homiletic conversations that ensue become tantalizingly interesting.
