Abstract
  • What kind of a coaching and mentoring process will help pastors of the Roanoke District of the Virginia Conference United Methodist Church lead their congregations to develop vital and relevant ministries outside the walls of the church? The author coached five pastors to discover an existing need within the communities they serve. She showed how a particular skill set can turn around a local church in a weakened state of decline. The analysis suggests that pastors who develop vital and relevant ministries outside the walls of the church are transformational leaders who need support, understanding and courage.
