Abstract
  • While there are many church programs for and with the elderly, the area of spiritual care is rarely addressed for this age group. This project describes the process used to compile a handbook for local church pastors with specific focus on white 'Old Yankee' Protestant women over the age of seventy-five. The manual covers three main areas: (1) myths and stereotypes of aging, contrasting them with biblical material; (2) spiritual well-being and factors which are of particular influence upon the spiritual life of today's older woman; and (3) suggested methods of identifying and calling forth their innate spiritual resources.
