Abstract
  • The core of the project was the production of a workbook entitled, Spiritual Genealogy--John Wesley and the Fathers of the Church. Using the workbook in a small group experience, ten participants were introduced to the spiritual writings of Athanasisus, Augustine, Origen, Macarius, Tertullian, and Clement of Alexandria. The significant findings of the study include an increased sensitivity to one's life with God, a deeper appreciation for the struggles of the early church, and an introduction to some of the classic Christian spiritual disciplines, especially prayer, spiritual reading, and the maintenance of a journal.
