Abstract
  • In light of doubts about the church's practice of the Eucharist, this project proposes that churches reclaim the Eucharist by replicating the table fellowship practices of Jesus and welcoming 'unclean' people to the Lord's table. Churches need to practice the Eucharist in spaces other than church sanctuaries, and space in sanctuaries should be organized to embody meanings of the Eucharist. Churches should also embody in the Eucharist a Christian understanding and practice of time rather than an American time orientation. The project realizes these recommendations in a Eucharist with homeless people.
