  • Driven by a deep appreciation for the diversity of persons and their gifts in the formulation of a wholesome church, this project introduces a process of collaborative leadership designed to stimulate community by resolving conflict. The model evolved from the real life situation of the Savannah Grove Baptist Church of Effingham, South Carolina. It shows how a congregation diseased with the virus of chaos, conflict and controversy over many years moved to become a semblance of spiritual resourcefulness, a center of health where congregants demonstrate maturity and contribute to healing and wholeness. The project shows that this happened via a Christ-centered model wherein the total congregation became involved in the leadership of the church. The end result is an enhancement of services to the church based on the principles of collaborative leadership, thus making Savannah Grove Baptist Church a place where conflict is marginalized due to strategies growing out of collaborative efforts to manage it.
