- Abstract
- The Vatican II Council called for an undestanding of church as the people of God. Translated into practical ecclesiology, responsibility for church became the prerogative of the baptized, not just the ordained. This realization led to the development of a variety of collegial bodies in the 1970s. The opportunities were endless as were the problems. The author recognized the major source of the problem: the use of a secular model of decision making. Drawing on her 14 years of consulting experience all over the country and using a method of theological reflection, the author developed this model from the discerning tradition of the church.
