Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to develop a perinatal loss support group as a resource for the community. I hypothesized that participants in the perinatal loss support group would report a reduction in emotional and/or physical symptoms related to their grief. My research included a review of the literature and interviews with parents who had experienced perinatal loss. The basis for evaluation of goal achievement was the use of symptom self-reports, observation, and post-project interviews. As a group, there was an overall reduction of 24% in reported symptom severity between the time of first self-report and the second self-report. Most of the participants reported significant reductions in the severity of their symptoms.
