- Abstract
- The question of the importance of spiritual practices to the sermon preparation process is an issue for pastors today. This project focused on a group of preachers who gathered to engage scripture in creative ways and then to continue practices individually. The author explored ways in which intentionally making time for spiritual practices affects the preacher as well as the sermon. The research involved a twelve-week study of a lectionary group of preachers, interviews of numerous preachers outside the group, and journal entries. The result was a style of lectionary group that can be portable and sustainable in other settings.
