Abstrakt

This project proposes that assimilation of newcomers is a necessary component of a church's ministry because of the inherently social character of the Christian faith and the instruction of Jesus to welcome strangers (Matt 25:35). By examining biblical stories and images of the church and observing the decline of modern individualism, the project affirms the necessity of a faith community for meaningful discipleship and develops a model for an assimilation ministry in a local congregation.
