Abstract
  • This paper details the implementation of a course designed to equip lay people with basic pastoral care skills. Its theological conviction is that the incarnational shape of Jesus' life should also be the shape of the church's ministry: a ministry that is of the whole people of God, guided by its public servants. The project was also built upon the psychological/sociological thesis that lay helpers can have significant outcomes in their peer counseling. Through pre- and posttest measurements the project confirmed that one of many ways to do lay training can lead to beneficial results for its participants.
