- Abstract
- This project encourages creative local planning to provide elegant environments for worship in present and future congregations by offering a resource instrument for laypersons on building or renovation committees. In examining the Reformed tradition of worship architecture through the eyes of Zwingli, Calvin, the Puritans, and the Liturgical Renewal Movement, the project offers a glimpse of the architectural past and the foundational meanings of cross, table, baptism, and pulpit. In this light the project presents possibilities for church structure, material, seating, choir location, flexibility, lighting, acoustics, and church symbols.
