Abstract
  • Adults in the challenging midlife years develop diverse spiritual needs that affect church participation. This project focuses on what churches can do to address more effectively these needs and thereby provide important support and encourage church involvement and satisfaction. The project examines the information gleaned from extensive interviews conducted with seventeen midlife individuals from the same congregation. The interview responses cover four areas: 1) midlife experience, 2) spiritual needs, 3) diversity, and 4) church involvement and satisfaction. From the responses, five specific spiritual needs are identified. Eight strategies are recommended that churches can employ to better meet these needs.
