- The purpose of this dissertation is: to present a rationale for a course on creeds for members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); to review and evaluate the course, 'Affirming Our Faith Today;' and to offer possibilities for future direction for lay theological education. In the development of the course, a process theological perspective was used and theoretical perspective developed by Malcolm Knowles. The materials presented were prototypic affirmations from the scriptures; the Apostle's Creed; contemporary creeds in global context; and personal and corporate statements of faith in the local church. Such an approach holds promise for strengthening the Disciple's restoration concerns.
