Abstract
  • A program of spiritual formation focusing on the practice of contemplative spirituality can fit in a Lutheran congregation. The author worked with a group of thirteen parishioners for five months studying and putting into the practice a form of spirituality more traditionally associated with monasticism. The work raises questions about the propriety of a vocabulary including 'spirituality, spiritual disciplines, spiritual direction and spiritual formation' in the context of a traditional Lutheran congregation.
