Abstract
  • The purpose of this work is to develop a perspective which integrates theological and psychotherapeutical concepts concerning the problem and treatment of guilt. It begins with a critical assessment of the approaches of O. Hobard Mowrer and Jay E. Adams and proceeds to the contemporary proclamation of grace in preaching as well as in counseling, and takes issue corporally with both writers' views of Freudian psychoanalysis. The project seeks to integrate a responsible concept of a doctrine of justification with Freudian psychoanalysis. By restricting the approach to the subject of guilt, the project presents itself as a 'perspective.' it states and defends the divine dimension of the coming Kingdom of God and invites and encourages the individual to accept that dimension of justification by God which spares the person from attempts of self-justification.
