Abstract
  • This project traces the reemergence of a representational way of looking at Bible study and highlights the possibilities of using the concept of image as a correlative framework for understanding interdisciplinary biblical concerns. It refers to: James Fowler, Mary C Boys, Thomas Groome, Victor Paul Furnish, and Amos Wilder. The project contains three applications: 1) a teaching outline for an extended class on the Genesis garden story, presented in a format suggested by Fred D Gealy's 'dialogue and encounter' approach; 2) the 'transforming Bible study' method of Walter Wink; 3) an overview of the parables of Jesus as the supreme example of the concept of image.
