Abstract
  • This project proposes a strategy for an evangelistic outreach to Baby Boomers living in Rock Island County, Illinois. More than 44,000 Baby Boomers live in the county; at least 30,000 are unchurched. The proposed strategy is based upon six valid and transferable principles drawn from existing literature and the successful programs of other churches. It met with varying degrees of acceptance by members of the Moline Seventh-day Adventist church, and with little success in reaching out to Baby Boomers. The major hindrance to the project's success is the inability to elicit commitment from the members or to mobilize active support for the strategy by the host church. A major change in organizational methodology such as this requires significant time, careful planning and implementation, and a sense of urgency that the changes are needed.
