- Abstract
- Burnout is experienced while one endeavors to fulfill the responsibilities of the biblical call to ministry and such can be ameliorated by rest and renewal. This project identifies certain stresses that precipitate burnout within Pentecostal churches. Theological and empirical data lead to the conclusion that certain modalities have been established within the ministry and church that are counterintuitive to the physical and spiritual welfare of the pastor. For avoidance and recovery the project calls for a renewed hermeneutic that considers theology and self-care.
