  • The ministry challenge is to increase the bonds in Christ between congregations and the corporate efforts of these congregations as a District. Because Jesus demonstrated His bond with the disciples through footwashing and gave them instruction to wash each other's feet, reminding them of the connection they had in Christ and with each other for fulfilling Christ's mission, so Middle Pennsylvania congregations (a people whose ministry tradition is defined as a community through footwashing) who have come consciously or unconsciously to develop a secular understanding of District structure as Institution, are called to recover the identity of District Ministry as a network of partners communing with Christ and each other. Evidence of such a community include the District Board and Committees effectively collaborating in dealing with common problems, providing support for congregations and sharing common ministry.
