Abstract
  • Participants in short-term mission trips often have powerful spiritual experiences that deepen their faith and religious commitments. Intentional reflection is crucial to this spiritual growth and change. This project uses an action research method to develop, implement, and evaluate a plan for intentional reflection before, during, and after a short-term mission trip in order to encourage spiritual growth for the participants. The findings indicate that a balance and varied program of reflection are crucial, with worship and daily small-group theological reflection being the most important modes of reflection for this study.
