Abstract
  • An emphasis on church growth and marketing in the contemporary Christian church necessitates a uniquely Lutheran expression of evangelism and mission. First, a critical analysis of contemporary trends and methods of evangelism is offered, followed by consideration of how The Book of Concord addresses evangelism and mission. The case of Dietrich Bonhoeffer is then presented as a situation that has evangelistic emphases apart from church growth and marketing. Finally, consideration is given to how the assembly of the baptized, specifically through worship, forms Lutheran congregations and members for evangelism and mission.
