Abstract
  • This project proposes a prayerful approach to life and Scripture that locates sources of inspiration and authority and deepens self-disclosure on the part of the preacher, using Jungian concepts of wholeness and individuation. In this framework preaching is in essence an imparting of power of the Holy Spirit and the risen Christ, over against the powers that actively seek to subvert the task of preaching. Using a series of entries in journal form, the project explores the complexity unique to the preacher's world and illustrates how prayer can be a means of discovering hope and vitality within that world.
