Abstract
  • Zion Baptist Church is a 107-year-old, traditionally African-American church located in Lynn, Massachusetts. It was originally located in a predominantly African-American community to serve that growing population. However, things have changed and now many of the original members and their families have moved away and the church has seen dramatic demographic changes to its surrounding community. The original vision of having a warm and welcoming place to worship has long been accomplished, now it is time for the church to take a fresh look at its circumstances and seek a new vision for the future. This project will seek to help the leaders of Zion Baptist Church discern a fresh vision for the church. During the process the leadership team will be exposed to the realities of their original biblical purpose, current ministry context, and available resources. This project seeks to affirm that there is hope for older traditional churches to find a way out of the past and into a rapidly changing future.
