Abstract
  • In 1979-1980 the author undertook a research project to increase the data base concerning sexuality and addictions. A research questionnaire was devised and administered to 97 male alcoholics and/or drug addicts. This project focused on eight areas: general background, early childhood, chemical usage, heterosexuality, masturbation, homosexuality, sexual difficulties, and general questions. The study demonstrates that adult males who are alcoholics and drug addicts have significant sexual dysfunction both when using chemicals and also during periods of sobriety. These males requested programs on sexuality to help them deal with their difficulties.
