Abstract
  • Nothing destroys a ministry, a family, individuals, and a church's witness in a community more than a breakdown of pastoral ethics that results in sexual immorality. The most likely occurrence of this type of relationship develops in the counseling setting. Pastoral counselors must understand the damaging effects of becoming romantically or sexually involved with a counselee. This project developed and carried out a training model enhancing pastors' awareness of cross-gender counseling dynamics, and improving attitudes, knowledge, and skills that may help prevent the breakdown of pastoral ethics by inappropriate sexual conduct when doing cross-gender counseling.
