Abstract
  • Section I describes a Lonerganian approach to cognitive analysis and criteria for establishing truth statements. Section II discusses a vision of Catholic education. Passages from church documents are interpreted in Lonerganian categories. Section III presents a program for Catholic school teachers, inviting reflections on: (1) historical phases in the judgment of truth statements; (2) an understanding of the Lonerganian precept 'be attentive, intelligent, reasonable and responsible;' (3) Catholic values and social organization of the school; (4) teacher as catechist; (5) public worship and catechesis; and (6) catechesis as endeavor of faith community.
