  • In Christian communities of the third and fourth centuries, baptism was part of a vital process for forming disciples through a process of incorporation. This project explores how a congregation of today might recover the catechumenate, a dynamic pattern of catechesis and formation that accompanies baptism and profession of faith for adults. Because this ministry depends on both laity and clergy participation, a model proposed by Daniel Benedict is used with current members of a local congregation in order to experience the shape and feel of such a ministry. This particular project took place in a congregation drastically affected by Hurricane Katrina.
