Abstract
  • This project explores the nature of conflict and styles of conflict management in a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA). The project studies four groups within congregational life. Intervention is primarily in the form of a workshop-seminar for officers and other laity of the church. The project uses the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument. One hundred one persons responded to the test instrument. Several variables serve as means for comparing data with standard analyses. All groups indicate a propensity for avoiding conflict.
