Abstract
  • An organizational development project in a former textile mill church was based on the thesis that an action research process could enable it to change from a survival strategy to one of ministry in a culturally transitional community. An original attempt at the project in a cooperative ministry setting was unsuccessful. Theological considerations, congregational heritage, data gathering, specific steps of action, and long-range planning formed the core of the project. Project goals were largely achieved, and the conclusion was that such a process could enable a church to turn to a community ministry.
