  • The goal of this project was to develop and teach a model of leadership that would facilitate the implementation and accomplishment of the Beverly Heights Church Staff Leadership Team's mission of serving as teachers, enablers, coaches, and cheerleaders of ministry team leaders. The report examines the biblical, theological, and historical foundations of leadership with special attention given to the motifs of power, authority, and stewardship. As a result of the research, the SERVES model of leadership was developed. The SERVES model is based upon empowerment and identifies six key leadership roles (Spiritual Director, Equipper, Resourcer, Visionary, Encourager, and Strategist), along with eighteen role dimensions and competencies.
