Abstract
  • This study examines the impact churches and clergy have on inter-denominational families. Surveys went to clergy, and to inter-denominational families assessing the impact of denominational identity, prevalence, acceptance of inter-denominational families, the influence of congregational size, ministerial attitude, and individual family perceptions. Three findings resulted. First, participating inter-denominational families were long-time or life-time members of their faith communities. Second, inter-denominational families are present in most churches regardless of size or denomination, and they garner spiritual enrichment from all church communities in which they participate. Third, there is disparity between clergy and inter-denominational families' perception of their experience.
