Abstract
  • This project proposes that Jesus' reading of Isaiah 61:1-2 in Luke 4:16-21 is a concise statement of of his understanding of his earthly ministry and the prophetic agenda of the church. In its exegesis of this text the project interprets the contemporary implications for daily mission, organizational life, and activities of local congregations, leading to an organizational model that focuses attention on creative worship, prophetic, biblical preaching and education, fellowship and hospitality, and redemptive ministry.
