- Abstract
- This thesis project researched the journey to healing through the pain of relational betrayal abuse. Biblical and social science literature was examined, five victim qualitative research interviews were completed, and grounded theory methodology was utilized. Learning focused on betrayal harmartiology, definitions, theories, attributional typology, and psychometric assessment need. The researcher's emergent theory is that the journey to healing comprises the stages of 'exile,' 'sojourn,' and 'new promised land;' and victims employed metaphors as progress indicators. When caregivers assist the betrayed to reframe, new metaphors are acquired, grace is experienced, hope is discovered, and the broken encountered God's redemptive purposes.
