  • The study investigates the effectiveness of corporate prayers as a means of forgiveness of guilt and shame. A hypothesis that the use of singular or plural pronouns in corporate prayer would effect the degree to which the participant experienced forgiveness was tested. A questionnaire developed by James Emerson, and modified for this study, was used to collect data. The research suggests the need for a rite of passage for persons who make a public profession of faith and become members of the church. The author suggests services which make use of the Service for the Renewal of Baptism.
