Abstract

This ministry project examines the introduction of three spiritual disciplines to First Baptist Church in Dover, Tennessee through expository preaching. Chapter one expresses the need to teach the spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer and fasting. Chapter two is a review and analysis of the biblical foundation of the practice of spiritual disciplines and expository preaching. Chapter three investigates that churches that are witnessing spiritual maturity based on expository preaching. This chapter also reviews how public speaking can change behavior from a psychological perspective. Chapter four addresses the steps involved in this ministry project. This section also shares test score data compiled from the Test Group. Chapter five contains an analysis of the test results. Comparison was made between the data from the pre-test and post-test. This chapter concludes with some highlights of this ministry project.
