Abstract
  • Relevant insights for the role of an epistolary (letter-writing) ministry are addressed. The theoretical framework investigates the biblical, historical, and theological science fields, documented by the library survey approach. The technical framework includes communication theory, fundamentals of effective letter-writing, precautions, and use of blessings in letters. A practical guide (manual), including over 20 actual pastoral epistles, merges the perceptions from the theoretical and technical rationales. Evaluations of the manual by a panel of United Methodist clergy are reported. The study emphasizes the positive nature of an epistolary ministry as a valid means of pastoral care.
