- Abstract
- In a new pastorate the writer discovered a residue of unresolved emotional baggage that had been recycling generation after generation. The thesis examines the process of understanding a church's past, honestly facing problems, and developing a rite of passage which allows healing and reconciliation to happen. The concepts in Family Systems Theory with emphasis on differentiation became the instrument in the change process. A rite of exorcism brought closure by enabling individuals to rid themselves of the demons of fear, guilt, and shame. ten years of research affirms that our Christian faith really works if we allow it to happen.
