Abstract
  • The work proposes the biblical sage as a paradigm for the practice of campus ministry. It examines the identity, theology, authority and function of the sage in the Old Testament and the wisdom genre in the New Testament. The project draws on research in the areas of Old Testament theology and biblical studies. Four hundred thirty-five campus ministers are surveyed to learn their model preferences. The author examines the strengths and limitations of these models of ministry. He suggests ways in which the sage is able to enrich these models and draws illustrations from his own practice of campus ministry.
