- Abstract
- The thesis of the dissertation is that preaching should be a participatory activity to be experienced by congregation and minister. The project for the study was an experiment in participatory preaching. A control group selected from the congregation of the First Baptist Church (Elberton, Georgia) evaluated the effectiveness of four sermons preached at the church. The sermons were examples of participatory preaching. The conclusion was reached that when the minister preaches sermons that are participatory in nature, preaching becomes a more meaningful event for both the minister and the congregation.
