Abstract
  • The author proposed that mentoring new believers in the basics of spiritual formation is an effective method of personal discipleship in order to sustain growth in the Christian faith. A seven session curriculum designed for the ministry project discussed the biblical basis for the nature of mentoring and the spiritual disciplines, the Scriptures, prayer, discernment, confession, community, and witnessing. The author concluded that an application of these essential spiritual disciplines by the power of the Holy Spirit in the context of personal mentoring relationships results in sustained growth in the Christian faith.
