- Abstract
- This project presents an analysis of the historical roots of evangelical Baptist faith in the Orthodox Russian tradition, describes the new realities of post-totalitarian society, and develops effective methods for evangelizing Russia. There are three dimensions: church, as a sacramental worship 'koinonia'; mission, as an aggressive outreach ministry through the cultural, ethnic, and religious barriers; and education center (academy), as a deep source for theological training, equipping and researching tools for effective Christian service all across the country. This work presents a strategic model for future development as well as a theological and practical base for multiple church activities, missions strategy and Christian education orientation. Results show that a model similar to that of the apostolic church works well in Russia today. Evidence of this is seen in the Temple of the Gospel as well as dozens of other new churches and mission points striving to reach the former Soviet Union for Christ.
