- This project proposes that local churches can become effective resources for ex-offenders in their release from prisons and reintegration into the community. Church-sponsored aftercare programs provide significant aid to ex-offender and reduce recidivism. The project analyzes experiences of female ex-offenders in the program sponsored by Mount Zion United Methodist Church (Baltimore, Md), finding them inconclusive. African American churches should form coalitions for aftercare efforts.
