Abstract
  • The project's purpose was to integrate modern marketing strategies into the outreach ministry at the First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates, Georgia, to increase levels of awareness and participation by community residents in those ministries offered by the church. The community residents were pretested to determine initial levels. A one-month intensive marketing campaign followed. Afterward, the community was posttested to determine any change. Although there were increases in the number of visitors and attenders at the church as well as in levels of congregational support for the marketing approach, community followup surveys actually showed decreased levels of community awareness and participation.
