Abstract
  • This project-thesis demonstrates that pastoral supervision/consultation is a needed and effective way to enable (administer and teach) and to enhance (spiritually and emotionally) one's ministry throughout a life-time of service. Supervision/consultation is viewed as a continuum for training and sustaining ministering persons, its function being similar to pastoral care: healing, sustaining, guiding, reconciling. A definition, theology, and methodology are developed for pastoral supervision/consultation, and project materials and related resources used during the 1979-81 supervision/consultation with field education students and clergy in a pastoral counseling training program with the author form the appendix. Professional growth and support can be combined.
