Abstract
  • This project explores the lives of two exemplary individuals--Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Elie Wiesel--and the dominant images of discipleship, community, and suffering that govern them, in order to enhance Christian life and discipleship in the contemporary world. Biblical heroes inspire us in the pages of Scripture, and modern heroes impress us by word and example. Christian discipleship is a daring enterprise requiring commitment beyond the comfortable. Commitment defines the significant life as well-lived and worth living.
