Abstract
  • The purpose of this dissertation/project was to enquire if members of the congregation bereaved through shocking death needed different pastoral support from those bereaved through a normal, anticipated death. The method of study was by interviewing twelve members bereaved through shocking death using a research instrument, and assisted by studies on post-traumatic stress disorder. Results showed that: questions on suffering, pain and death were being asked; the congregation provided support; a bereavement care group was created.
